Ogunquit, ME

Introduction

This was day 1 of our Acadia National Park, ME get-away.

Oguinquit is located on the southern coast of Maine. It is a “beautiful place by the sea,” famous for its three miles of white sand beaches, restaurants, art galleries, museums, and boutiques.

Ogunquit Beach

After driving for 5.5 hours, Ogunquit Beach was a perfect resting point. We parked our car in the paid parking lot and took or beach gear and inflatable kayak to the beach. Luckily, we made it there during high tide, allowing us to kayak. Sheldon even took a cold-water dip! It was amazing to see the tide recede, and the ocean literally turn to walkable sand.

Marginal Way

We put away our kayak and took a walk on Marginal Way, a beautiful 1.25-mile trail along the coast, overlooking the cliffs.

Then, off we went to our destination, Acadia National Park!
